If you wish to set up your email program on your local machine to include checking mail for your domain email account eg: info@mydomainname.com please use the following settings for Outlook Express:
Instructions for Outlook Express:
- Open Outlook Express
- From the Tools menu choose Accounts
- Select the Mail tab at the top
- Click on Add and then Mail
- Display Name: Type in your real name, click Next
- Email address: info@mydomainname.com [enter your actual email address eg: info@yourdomain.com] click Next
- My Incoming mail server is a: POP3 server
Incoming Mail Server: mail.mydomain.com
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): mail.mydomain.com click Next- Account name: [Enter your email username eg: info@yourdomain.com]
- Password: [enter your email password], click Next
- Click Finish
If you get an error sending it is probably because "My server requires authentication" is not ticked. To enable this please follow the instructions below:
- Open Outlook Express
- From the Tools menu choose Accounts
- Select the Mail tab at the top (if it is not already active)
- Select mail.mydomainname.com
- Click Properties (on the right)
- Select the Servers tab at the top
- Tick My server requires authentication
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- Click Close
Send yourself an email to email address you have configured above to check that everything is working ok
